fear poem

                       Fear
Fear is the colour of tombstone grey

Fear is Penny wise haunting you in your sleep.
Fear feels like a million killer wasps attacking you

Fear makes you think of  Annabelle creeping you out at midnight

Fear looks like savage werewolves howling at the moon
Fear lives in an abandoned graveyard

Fear sounds like the laugh of a killer clown

Fear smells like deadly revenge

Fear tastes like blood in your mouth

Water Filter Experiment

 Aim/ Purpose -
To filter or clean water using a number of materials
How to clean/filter water - making it clean

Materials -
Sand
gravel
activated charcoal
cotton wool
plastic bottles cut in half
bucket of dirty water (can make the water dirty with soil or whatever from outside)

Predictions - What is going to work best?  What steps/process and in what order - why?
Cotton wool at the bottom - It will absorb the smaller dirt particles from the dirty water
2nd layer up - gravel - The gravel will grab onto the dirty parts and the clean water will drip off the gravel through the gaps.
Second Layer Up  - Charcoal - Second smallest material, can absorb the things not cleared by the bigger materials.
Third Layer Up - Sand - Turns hard when it’s wet - Take all the bigger dirt particles
Top layer - Gravel - All the hugest dirt particles out first.

Method/Steps:
First tryle-
Sand
Charcoal
Gravel
Cotton balls
Second tryle-
Charcoal
Gravel
Sand
Cotton balls
Explanation - How did it work?
The gravel collected the abounding bits.
The cotton kept the miniscule bits.
The sand held on to the immensed bits.
The charcoal gathered the particles that the other materials couldn't get to.
Why is it important for cities/towns etc to purify and clean the water before it gets to peoples’ homes?
The water should get cleaned before it enters people's homes is because then it doesn't cause flu, diseases, chemicals, bacteria and infections into the human body or any pet body, it also helps catch algae.

Expirament

Inquiry Experiment
Aim/Purpose :
To see what happens when baking soda and vinegar mix/combine
To see the reaction that occurs when these two substances are mixed

Prediction - What do we think is going to happen:
We think it will explode/ It’s going to blow up - Anoushka, Hassan
The ziplock bag will pop open and the liquid will spill out-
It could fizz up
The bag might fill up with air - Fariah
Fizz up like soda when shaken
The air pressure created inside the bag will cause the seal on the bag to pop open - Arina

Steps:
Open up a paper towel on a flat surface
Put 4 levelled teaspoons of baking soda in the centre of the paper towel
Wrap up the baking soda in the paper towel like a package - Keep the baking soda concentrated in the middle of the paper towel
Tape down your package of baking soda with a piece of masking tape so that everything stays in place
Open the vinegar and pour it into a cup - until the cup is half full
Then open a zip lock bag and pour the vinegar into it
Hold the package inside the zip lock bag, making sure it doesn’t yet make contact with the vinegar - then zip up the bag - making sure that it is completely closed
Let the package of baking soda drop into the vinegar and shake the bag up a little so that they start to mix
Observe what happens

Materials/equipment:
 *Baking Soda  (4 x tablespoons)
*Vinegar (half a cup)
*Ziploc sandwich bags
*Plastic spoon
*Paper towel
*Masking tape

Roles within the group:
1.Presenter - conducts the experiment
2.Assistant - collects all the materials
3. Videographer - takes a video of the experiment
4. Recorder - Record the result

After students have prepared they can present the experiment in front of the class who will be the audience. The videographer can record the experiment and the recording can be shared at a later stage.

The Result - What did we see happen?
The result was an explosion, Arina had predicted  that it would fill with air pressure that caused the seal to pop open. The baking soda which is a citric powder mixing with a liquid which was a Vinegar had made a chemical reaction.  One is a base and one is an acid. When they mix hydrogen ions are made which expand and build air pressure in the bag until it pops.

Variables - How could we change the variables,Predict what might happen if we change the variables  - see below.
Experiment - Were our predictions accurate?
Nearly, some were more accurate than the others

Put 5 or more teaspoons of baking soda into the package - Bigger explosion/more powerful
If there is too much baking soda and not enough vinegar, it may not work

Put more vinegar  - Bigger explosion/not pop

Way less baking soda and wrapped in more paper towels - nothing - it would take a longer time to see a reaction

Baking soda - With no package surrounding it - The reaction would happen instantly and uncontrollably

The Science - Why did it happen?
The  pop had occurred because the vinegar is a base and the baking soda is an acid.

Here are some websites to look at…. You may be able to find other websites too!

Science experiment-rm 3

Plants Absorbing Water
Aim:
To colour celery or cabbage leaves - Try and see how plants absorb water

Materials
Glass jars x4
Celery
Cabbage leaves
4 different colours of food colouring
Water
Scissors/knife/chopping board to cut the celery

Method
FIll up 4 glass jars up to around half way
Put approximately 10 drops of different coloured food colouring into each jar
Place a celery stick or a cabbage leaf into each jar

Explanation
Part 1 - Explain why plants need water
In hot weather the leaves need To cool off through evaporation. Plants use water to survive, obtain energy, maintain their body structure, keep growing well and to keep their size. Plants also need water to stay strong.

Part 2 - How they absorb water

A plant can earn water by dissolving the nutrients from the soil or the roots.  The roots can draw moisture from the soil and this is spread to several parts of the plant.  Osmosis is the way the plant absorbs water from the soil. Water will transport through the roots where it will go to parts of the plant were it is needed at that time.

The sun flower life cycle

Tunde
P1-intro
P2-the seeds and the germination process
P3-the growth/spread of the roots ,stem and leaves
P4-head blooming
P5-seeds blooming and dying
P6-conclusion
Intro
The beautiful, dainty sunflowers  you see proudly standing out in the sun didn’t begin this way. It had a long process before becoming this mesmerising plant. Like all living things they have their own time to grow during their lifetime.

Paragraph 2
This mythical plant starts off as a tiny seed with the outer layer colour of black and white flecks printed on.The sunflower feels like  rough bark. There are many types of sunflowers in the world. The inside of a sunflower is a dull, peach colour in the shape of a teardrop. Soon this tiny seed will become a giant sunflower after its growing process. After a while a little root will blast its way out in the soil. The root looks like a tiny, wriggly earthworm and probably a girl’s ponytail. Soon a small leaf will grow out of the seed in different shades of green.

Paragraph 3
afterwards the root will make its way further into the soil stabilizing the plant. The stem will gain more leaves during this time of the process. The sunflower is still young, weak and needs time to fully develop. The roots absorb nutrients and water from the soil to help them grow faster. Sunflowers need to have lots of water and lots of sun.

Paragraph 4
The sunflower will soon form a bud that has various shades of green and is bunched up into a ball. The bud will rise up to the top facing the clouds. Once it has enough water and sun the bud will begin to unfurl. This is when it stands out beautiful and tall in the meadow with the rest of the sunflowers that have this life cycle. But unfortunately it doesn't stay like this forever.

Paragraph 5
Soon an array of seeds will take center stage inside the sunflower. rapidly the seeds become darker and darker. soon the seeds will fall, if birds do not eat them. Lastly the sunflower withers and  dies but then the process begins once more!

Conclusion
All sunflowers have a long process but then wither and peacefully pass away. It is after all an elegant plant that beautifully shimmers in the sunlight.
